linten printen (2)

Last time I told you about that mechanic printing machine and how much I like the oldfashioned looks of the golden print on moiré ribbons. And here they are, ready to upgrade your Xmas diningtable!

For the text I chose a saying of the holy bible (song of solomon), as it has universal flavour for all people that have a loved one. No matter if you are a believer or not. No matter if it goes about your partner, your parents, children or dear friends:

IK BEN VAN MIJN LIEF, EN MIJN LIEF IS VAN MIJ.

The ribbons are about 3m long and come in various colours. For product requests as well as customized designs please fill out the general contact form.

Merry Xmas to all of you!

linten printen

While the wereldwijven at Intermezzo in Dordrecht are continuing to upgrade my cushions with embroidery (more fotos coming soon), I fell in love with yet another activity.

I got hands on an old printing machine, like they were used by flowershops before the digital age!
Sentimental part is, that these machines where mainly used to imprint the silky ribbons on mourning wreaths. Now I am going to use the material for somthing more merry, more edifying for your Xmas feast.

Come and see the result at Sunday 04-12-11 (OneDayShop at Galerie Intermezzo, Voorstraat 178, Dordrecht)!

Making of p.o.f.

Today I was working on a new product, which I prepared in pieces and took to the exhibition to show the process of assembling.

It is always a guess with working on location and doing sth for the first time, if you are well enough prepared for the job. Finally you always miss some bolts, the accu of your mobile tool is low just before you are done, you forgot to pack just that very size of key that you need so badly now..
Today luck was with me and here it is, the first p.o.f. – piece of furniture.
It’s sliding top of lightweight steel with classic enamel coating gives way to a storage room underneath.

Week 43, final run

The work on the Ford Bench cushions continues..

es.ontwerp meets wereldwijven

Apart from that I am busy with making the limited edition of the P.O.F. (Piece of Furniture) – a little container on wheels with multiple function.  I hope to have finished by saturday, so you can see them live and ready. Will tell you more about that project tomorrow!

Week 42, more work at Intermezzo

The work around the cushions is up and running. By now there are 9 women involved with embroidering and crocheting.
The basic cushions – they will go together with the Ford Bench – I made from reused interior fabrics of old cars. Eventually the future owner of the Ford Bench will be able to choose between a matte white and a matte black version of the bench. There’s also cushions to choose from.

Some of the them will come with typical elements of Rotterdam harbour life, as there are lorries, peacefully chewing rabbits, river cargo ships, chicken and so on. With others the wereldwijven used colours from the existing, industrial patterns to strengthen or disturb these patterns in a more intuitive way.

Come and see the results with the finnisage at Saturday, 29/10 at Intermezzo!

The Fordbench, made from recycled interior parts of a Ford Mondeo, on base of a welded steel rack. It’s brother – a black matte version – is based on parts of a Ford Escort Van. The backrest is removable to reduce transport measurements. With a variety of cushions, still in the process of making of.
